Gravity Car
For science we must create a "Gravity Car" which we will later race. In order for our cars to be counted they must be recyclable and not have anything to do with styrofoam. So I made my car out of a water bottle; for the body, skewers; for the axiles, and thread spools; for the tires. Just to make my car look nice I spray painted it black and put a strip of blue glitter down the middle. In order to make the it more dense I want to either put some water in it or put some sort of screws in it. As listed before, clearly, my car is made out of all recyclables and it will probably be faster with the water or screws. So by making this car it might go fast and it might not, we will have to see.

Jessica Denton- A mother and a fighter
While other pregnancies are going along as planned, Jessica Denton discovered she had breast cancer. You might think "How can someone be pregnant and have breast cancer?" sometimes it happens when the body is not creating high levels of estrogen and progesterone. Cancer of any kind is found in an estimated 1 in 1,000 pregnancies, making it really rare. But it begins to rise as, probably, the age of childbearing begins to be put off to older ages. As the battle begins and continues the women who are pregnant do as well, sometimes better, than the other cancer fighters. So far not every doctor is informed about the treatments for cancer while being pregnant. As the survivors said "You're in a battle for your life and your baby's life, and you need doctors who will fight as hard as you. Don't stop searching until you find a team that will back you up."

Soaring Straws
During the process of this lab the relationship between gravitational potential energy and elastic potential energy was described by showing, when you have more elastic potential energy the rocket of straws has more gravitational potential energy. Such as, the rocket had 6 cm for amount of stretch, and the GPE was 23.23 mJ. But when the rocket had 8 cm amount of stretch the GPE was 42.7 mJ. By proving my point, the amount of stretch is considered the manipulated variable while the height is considered the responding variable.
Many times documentation is wrong or some equations aren't as well thought out. With my data I documented wrong the first time with the weight of the rocket by weighing the tube along with it. After seeing how high the GPE's were we went back to find the correct weight of the rocket.By doing so we discovered that we were 9 grams off which greatly effected our outcome. In order to make this lab better the directions could explain more on what to do and how to do it, so we would need less help and be independent. It would be better if the lab also showed how to change grams into kilograms to make the GPE come out into joules. That is really all that needed fixing, leaving on that note this lab was fun and a wonderful experience.

Literature Poems
Character Poem:
Byron
Mean, loving and complicated
Who loves to be feared by others
Who feels guilty about killing the mourning dove
Who needs to be honest with his feelings
Who shares his love in Alabama
Who fears his mom when she's angry
Who'd like to see his friends
Who dreams of everything but his future
Who ends up being a sensitive brother
Diamante Poem:
Wool - Pooh
Black, vicious
Grabbing, pulling, frightening
Unknown, killer, fuzzy, lovable
Caring, laughing, smiling
Happy, adorable
Winnie - the - Pooh

How do ultrasounds work?

Ultrasounds or ultrasonography is a technique used by doctors to check how the patient's baby is developing or to check the circulation of blood in a limb or your heart. It is a popular way to see what is going on in your body.
By sending high frequency sound waves, the ultrasound is able to use the echoing of them to make a picture of the limb or baby. It sort of uses echolocation like a bat, dolphin, or whale. Once the high frequency sound waves are sent by the probe they are either reflected by tissue or continue moving until they are reflected back to the probe. By using the length of the echoing and the points that the frequencies are reflected the machine can display a picture on the screen of what is going on in that section of your body.
Being able to see what is going on in your body can help predict when you are due for labor. By knowing this you can ready yourself for your incoming baby. Overall, ultrasounds work by using high frequency waves and the echoing of them, they are used by doctors to examine the development of the baby or the circulation of blood in someones limb or heart. This is what ultrasounds do to display a picture on a screen.

Can Too Much TV and Computer Time Hurt Your Heart?
What do you do while watching t.v or on the computer? Sit.
Studies show that because you are sitting while doing these activities it causes your body to produce less of an enzyme that breaks down fats in your blood. Without enough enzymes in your blood can cause an early heart attack or stroke. "Too much sitting is not the same thing as too little exercise."~ Dr. Barry Braun. Even if you add a little bit of exercise to your daily routine you would still need to cut down on your t.v and computer time.
Is all of this really true? Can I get a heart attack or stroke from sitting?
The scientists working on this project are still not positive that hear problems and sitting can be linked together. But many signs lead to sitting being a cause of heart troubles. While watching t.v you have more of a temptation from commercials to eat unhealthy foods which causes weight gain. So far their instincts tell them that sitting can cause heart problems and not enough enzymes in your blood, but they still need to investigate further into this situation. But this is only so far in their scientific investigation into the serious effects on what sitting can do to your body.
